This antibody is raised from rabbits that were immunized with NG- mono-methyl arginine-KLH conjugates and was specifically isolated and affinity purified using the monomethyl-arginine antigen. The affinity purified methyl arginine antibodies are useful for detection, isolation and localization of proteins with Nγ-methylated arginine residues.

Specificity

The antibody recognizes free mono-methyl arginine and proteins with methylated arginine residues. It does not cross react with either asymmetric or symmetric dimethyl arginine.

Scientific Description
Arginine methylation is a very common post-translational modification that occurs predominantly in the nucleus. The main pool of proteins that are modified possess RNA binding properties. More broadly, arginine methylation has been implicated in a variety of cellular processes, including protein trafficking, signal transduction and transcriptional regulation.
Storage & Stability
Product is stable for several weeks at 4°C. For extended storage,  store product at –20ºC. Expiration date is three years from date of shipping if properly stored.
